How to Approach a Foundation: From Initial Contact to Getting Funded
Date: February 23, 2012
Time: 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Event Description
While grant proposals are a critical part of the foundation fundraising process, the proposal never stands alone. What's also critically important is how you and your organization communicate with donors and prospective donors in the interest of building philanthropic partnerships.
This exciting seminar will offer tips on initiating and building relationships with foundations, starting with the initial approach. Every stage of the process will be addressed: what to do prior to submission, while the proposal is pending, and after the funder's decision has been made. Topics covered include: how to initiate contact with potential funders; planning calls and other communications; managing site visits; and communicating with funders after the grant decision has been reached.
Join us to hear a panel of foundation representatives offer candid perspectives from varying vantage points and respond to the questions you always wanted to ask.
Presenters will include:
Marcia Egbert—Senior Program Officer for Human Services, The George Gund Foundation
Ann Fairhurst—Lake-Geauga Officer, The Cleveland Foundation
Walter Ginn—Trustee, The Frank Hadley Ginn and Cornelia Root Ginn Charitable Trust
David Holmes – Regional Training Coordinator, The Foundation Center – Cleveland
Networking, sign-in, and continental breakfast begin at 8:00am
Lakeland Community College—Building A, Room A2100
Registration Code: 12SNPC119.01
