Board Renewal and Revitalization: The Power of the Nominating Committee
Date: February 7, 2012
Time: 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Event Description
Is your Board functioning as it should -- as a strong partner for the organization? Do you have enough community representation? Do you have enough of the right expertise? Is it time for “new blood”? Are you preparing the next crop of leaders?
If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, please join us as we gain new ideas for improved Board performance!
Whether the leadership role in Board renewal is carried out by a “Nominating Committee” or a year-round “Governance/Board Development Committee,” it is vital that the Board take the proper measures to ensure its own vitality and effectiveness.
In this highly interactive session led by skilled facilitator Sarah Spengler, MSOD, we will consider the powerful role this important committee can play in how well the Board functions; review “best practices” for not-for-profits regarding Board structure and recruitment processes; and discuss the reasons – and the need – for a year-round role for this key committee.
Participants are strongly encouraged to register in teams -- teams of Board members or teams comprised of both Board and staff members
